BODLEIAN LIBRARY WEDDING

The Venue

There’s just something about this beautiful venue, isn’t there? I couldn’t stop smiling all day and I couldn’t believe I’m shooting at such a stunning location. Whether it may be the fact that it is in Oxford, part of the prestigious University of Oxford, or the fact that (get ready for it) this is one of the locations Harry Potter was filmed in. Bodleian Library was just something different.

What can I say about the wedding? This was every wedding photographer’s dream. I arrived at the venue an hour early so that I could take some location shots, talk to the vendors and get an insight on the small details from the wedding planner. I must say what a great planner Katie Lou is from katielouweddings. She absolutely smashed it as she is a specialist at this venue where there are quite a few moving parts.

The Wedding

I saw Lucien arriving at Convocation House, Bodleian Library for the ceremony with his best man, and let me tell you, I’ve been there. The emotions of excitement, nervousness, joy, and all of the above when you know this is it. This is the day you have been planning for, postponed a couple of times due to Covid and now, it’s here. Lucien looked in great spirits nonetheless, laughing and joking as he waited for his bride.

Carolina walked towards the venue, helped by her mum, dad, and Katie Lou and she looked stunning! After a quick kiss on the cheek from her mum and dad, she began her journey up the aisle towards Lucien who was all smiles. The ceremony was perfect with readings in Portuguese and English and messages read out from people around the world who unfortunately could not attend.

After the ceremony, the guests were treated to a variety of delicious nibbles and drinks at The Sheldonian Theatre where I was able to take Lucien and Carolina away for a quick couple shoot in the forecourt which was filled with giggles, love, cuddles, and kisses.

The dinner and reception followed at the historic Divinity School. I got as much joy from seeing the faces of the guests as they walked in and saw the stunning ceiling and the way the tables were set. The speeches, laughter, live band, live singers, what a treat?

I am so blessed to have been a part of this day and witness the beginning of Lucien and Carolina’s journey as a married couple. I wish you both the best of luck in the future as you begin your new life in Brazil.

Parabéns, Lucien e Carolina e muito obrigado.

Gilmour Machado.
