The hotel’s origins date back to 1780 when it was built as a private home for the Duke of Buckingham & Chandos. The Duke was an avid hunter and Hedsor House soon became his hunting lodge.
In 1812, Hedsor House was sold to Robert Williams who became the first Earl of Hedsor and it has remained in this family ever since. In 1835, the Earl commissioned architect James Pennethorne to design a new wing which included a ballroom, library and billiard room with an imposing staircase leading up from the entrance hall.
The current owners are Lord Hedsor’s great-great-grandson – Lord David Douglas-Pennant – and his wife Lady Alice Douglas-Pennant who acquired Hedsor House in 2006 after
